Wrongful Death Lawsuit Targets Sheriff’s Department, Officers in Fatal Shooting

May 6th, 2008 · No Comments

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed earlier this week by the widow of a man shot by two Sheriff’s deputies in July of 2008. The lawsuit claims that deputies Greg Kade and John Hajash responded inappropriately to a disturbance complaint against John Webb early in the morning on July 4, which said that Webb was playing excessively loud music and firing his AK-47 rifle. The deputies arrived on scene over 30 minutes after the AK-47 discharge had taken place. According to the suit, the two officers approached the house under cover, hiding their presence and failing to identify themselves as police officers before shooting Webb.

Mrs. Mary Webb’s wrongful death lawsuit seeks compensation for mental anguish, loss of income, emotional distress, and negligence on the part of the Sheriff’s department, among other claims.
