Police Officer Back on the Job

March 5th, 2008 · No Comments

A police officer whose squad car was rear-ended last month is back on the job. His K9 partner is still waiting at home for a car to be fitted for him.

The squad car was rear-ended as it helped in the removal of a truck from a ditch. It was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler whose driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel. Neither officer was seriously hurt in the crash. The human was sore for a few days after the truck and his K9 partner endured a cut on his face.

This accident is similar to a 2006 accident where another police officer’s vehicle was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler. That officer suffered herniated discs in his neck and back and still has lingering effects from the accident.

The police department affected is now averaging one of these accidents a year. The driver of the truck was charged with violating a state emergency vehicle passing law.
