The city of Edgerton’s city council denied the claims of a couple that were trying to recover medical expenses as well as lost wages following an accident in which a police cruiser hit their car.
The accident, which occurred in August, involved Officer Mikkelsen. He was responding to a different accident and tried to execute a U-turn to protect the accident scene. Unfortunately, his car ended up colliding with the passenger side of Mr. and Mrs. Castiglioni’s car.
Their claim, which is a precursor to a lawsuit, was seeking expenses to cover medical expenses, mental and physical suffering, lost wages, and loss of companionship.
When the accident occurred, the state police officer reported that while Mikkelsen made an improper turn, neither driver should be cited for the accident.
